A Nonprofit Car Lot in South Dakota

SHIFT Garage is a faith-rooted 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We’ve served Rapid City since 2012, and we now have a second shop in Sioux Falls.

A fair price, not a hard sell

Our cars are priced around 85% of market value. Each one is inspected, repaired and detailed before it goes on the lot. Anyone can buy.

One sale puts two cars on the road

Our founder, Joe Smith, calls it an unbreakable system. When you buy a car, we use that money to buy and fix up two more. Buying from us doesn’t take a car from someone in need. It helps put more on the road.

More than car sales

We also run Repair Nights, where approved clients pay only for parts and trained volunteers donate the labor. We accept donated vehicles and teach car maintenance and budgeting classes.

Is buying a car from SHIFT tax-deductible?

No. A car purchase is a purchase, not a donation. If you’d like to give, you can donate a car or give online.
